Configuring fetch limit in Summary with the "SqlTextSize" key
KBA-01151
Purpose & Scope

This article is for Summary versions 3.0.6.453 and higher.

The purpose of configuring the 'SqlTextSize' key is to specify a limit where you feel there is an acceptable balance of speed and data.  By setting a cap on the amount of data that Summary returns, you can achiever higher performance while still seeing a reasonable amount of each activity.

Procedure

Navigate to C:\Program Files\c360 Solutions\v3\Config and open c360.Summary.config

Within the <appSettings> portion of this file, add the following key:  <add key='SqlTextSize' value='6998' />

Save the file, and perform an IISreset to cycle the loaded configuration.

Additional Comments

We recommend using a value of 6998 for the following reasons:

1.  7000 and higher will cause a decline in performance and may cause columns to be oddly proportioned

2.  The number specified must be an even number (seriously; don't enter an odd number)

3.  The number is large enough to show a helpful amount of data

Note that invisible characters, such as HTML formatting in emails, are counted as part of the character limit.
